GOVERNMENT & LEGAL SYSTEM
The structure of the government is similar to all western democracies where human rights and private property are safeguarded. The Head of State is the president who is elected on a five- year basis and elects his council of ministers. Legislative power lies with the House of Representatives.
The legal system is based on the same principles as those applicable to the United Kingdom and all statutes regulating business matters and procedures are based essentially on English law. Most laws are translated into English.
